Why are so many trailers, such as GTA IV and Ghost of Yotei, captured on PS5 and not PS5 Pro or PC? And why are developers treating the base PS5 as the target spec for everything: even traditionally PC focused studios like CD PRojekt Red with their recent tech demo of The Witcher 4? Aiming just below the maximum keeps expectations in check, and reassures us that our hardware will still be good in two years time. And in an era of rising inflation and endless financial turmoil, that’s more valuable to the games industry than the impending generational to PS6. As long as they keep giving us a performance mode, we’re good.
