Dragon's Dogma 2's director doesn't want his game to rely on fast travel.

Hideaki Itsuno isn’t against easy fast travel but favors an immersive approach for Dragon’s Dogma 2

and didn’t mince words when it comes to his preference for actually exploring open worlds

"Travel is boring? That’s not true. It’s only an issue because your game is boring.

In Dragon’s Dogma and its sequel, fast travel is intentionally limited.

Pushing players to engage more deeply with the world through traditional travel methods.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will add a new form of ‘fast travel’ called Ferrystones, akin to Skyrim’s wagons, but with an exciting twist: random encounters.
