F1: The Movie follows the sports movie playbook almost perfectly. Directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Brad Pitt as an aging never-was racecar driver giving it one last shot with an old friends racing team and his cocky young driver with plenty of lessons left to learn, the movie finds ways to be just that much better at nearly every stage of its 156-minute runtime. And even though Formula is kinda right there in the title, is F1 a little too devoted to the sports movie format?
