Far Cry's graphics evolution: 2004–2025 [4K Max settings]

Far Cry has come along way since its first installment in 2004. Over 17 years, we’ve been transported to scorching African savannah, frosty Himalayan peaks, tropical archipelagos…and everything in between! Initially built in the original CryEngine, every subsequent Far Cry game has been developed on Ubisoft’s in-house offshoot, Dunia, each new release delivering graphical enhancements. In this video, we compare the graphics of every entry in the Far Cry series, plot the technical advancements that kept it at the cutting edge of PC graphics for almost two decades, and ask what we can expect from the graphics of Far Cry 7 (if there is one!)
