Without the overly po-faced, grandiose vibes of the first game, Ghost of Yōtei has a clearer vision of what it is. There’s less of the clash between modern, populist Hollywood and the classics here, less of a tension between high and low art, entertainment and art, art and not-art, however you choose to define it. This is just straight, well-trodden blockbuster stuff. Sometimes that’s all I’m after. But often it does have its flaws.
