During the extensive gameplay showcase, glimpses of the game’s story mode were revealed, reintroducing well-known characters in the earlier stages of their journeys, aligning with the prequel nature of the game. Notably, Scorpion and Sub-Zero were depicted in their fully human forms, while Kung Lao showcased his impressive hat-throwing skills with an ordinary, non-sharpened hat. Additionally, the highly anticipated portrayal of Johnny Cage by Jean-Claude Van Damme was unveiled. Moreover, a tantalizing glimpse of Mileena’s transformation into a terrifying creature with a menacing mouth was also teased.
